Bringing Hope Home - One Repair at a Time
Bringing Hope Home - One Repair at a Time
The House That John Built was born from a simple idea: that no one should have to live in an unsafe, broken, or unlivable home, especially those already facing hardship. The idea originated from my brother, John McGaughey who saw a need for a program like this. His idea began with neighbors helping neighbors, as it should be. We were raised that if your neighbor needed help of any kind, you did just that. It was showing kindness and compassion to those when they needed it the most.
To bring hope home by providing essential home repairs for low-income families, seniors, veterans, and individuals with disabilities.
We believe that safe housing is not a luxury - it's a human right. When a roof leaks or a floor is unsafe, it puts families at risk. Our team of volunteers, tradespeople, and donors work together to fix what is broken - both in homes and lives.
Whether it's a wheelchair ramp for an elderly veteran or a roof repair for a struggling single mom, we show up with tools, compassion, and a commitment to restoring dignity.
We are a community-powered nonprofit, and we need people like you to keep building. Whether you give, volunteer, sponsor a family, or share our story, you're helping us bring warmth, safety, and stability back to families who need it most.
Because the strongest houses are built with love, community, and purpose.
